The purpose of the NRG certificate is to recognize students for the effort they put
forth to develop control over their personal energy and attitude so they can
successfully work with horses.

If personal energy (NRG) is not under control then things don't work well with the horse.

Students work on this each time they come and we track their progress through
review and points for each lesson. The review is a full circle of getting ready by setting
up equipment, getting the horse ready, riding, untacking and putting everything away
properly.

The items listed on the next page are addressed, evaluated and recognized for
each certificate.

In addition, students can earn symbols recognizing other activities, tasks and skills.

Any student may enroll for the certificate. It is mandatory for those 12 and under.

THE STUDENT IS ELIGIBLE TO ENROLL AFTER THEY BECOME
COMFORTABLE WITH THE LESSONS AND CAN COMMUNICATE WITH ME.
The reviews have to add to a total of 60 points then the tracking form can be turned
in so I can create the certificate. In addition to horseback riding this program
encourages and provides the student with following opportunities to:
- control personal energy
- redirect inappropriate energy
- make independent decisions
- problem solve
- learn how to be pro-active
- consider others - students
- consider others - the horse
- develop physical self
confidence
- develop social self confidence
* ride with others
- develop speaking confidence
* NRG review
* interacting with instructor
- develop confidence in the
knowledge they are gaining
- experience consequence
* negative - it doesn't work
* positive - it does work
- follow directions
- understand failure and
mistakes = learning
- try - that's all we ask
- experience disappointment
and learn from it
- your personal best is all that
we require
- stay on task - focus
- it's okay to have an off day
- follow through on a task
The items below are standard each lesson. The student is always in a state of
learning. When they understand when and how to use an application for a
specific task, they are provided with information for a different task. Although
applications are basic, the application changes according to the situation at
hand. Thus, the student learns how to become a problem solver and use
information in an appropriate and timely manner as they take lessons.

This page gives an explanation of the NRG Certificates and their symbols. It is a work in progress and until a student achieves the next
certificate up, we really don't know exactly what it will look like. No two are alike. Students have a chance to earn a variety of symbols
during the tracking period. Symbol examples and explanations at bottom of this page.  Click here and go to the
complete NRG
certificate album on Facebook. Click here for full description of NRG program.
